Now it could be that because i am a proud owner of a "Boston Terrier" that being asked every time someone approaches my dog "is that a PUG?" annoys the crap out of me.....or it could be the utter ignorance of everyone that walks by thinking they are so smart naming the breed before i do, guess what DUMMIES, a boston terrier is black and white ( sometimes red and white ) they are not a light tan color, second the body and bone structure is totally different- pug's look like someone kicked them in the ass and it stayed.....they look NOTHING ALIKE.....what the eyes? Jesus!
what i am saying is, i dont expect everyone on the street to know what kind of dog i have- but if you DONT know, dont guess for the love of god, just ask "what kind of dog is that" and i will kindly respond " She's a boston terrier" to which then they would respond with " a boston boxer?" NO A BOSTON TERRIER...... ah F%#$ it, yes she is a Pug.

All i am saying is that that if i don't know what breed a dog is ( and i am pretty good with my breed recognition) i just ask....maybe it's just me there is no shame in not knowing- but some in guessing way off....thanks for your comments i appreciate it, and i learned something new!
People just want to feel smart, so by guessing the breed, they think they look smarter then they are... [ in their own eyes]

I think that from now on when people ask the 'pug' question, we should politely answer,
"No, she is a lab-husky cross"
People don't listen...I bet they wouldn't even notice what you said.

Another poster had it right, the world is full of idiots. I also agree those two dogs look nothing alike. But let's cut some people a break. If they guess wrong, we politely correct them and the wise man/woman gladly accepts that reproof and learns something about two great breeds. The one who argues or even responds with "are you sure?" or "I knew someone with a pug that looked like your Boston Terrier" is someone I would love to string up and use as a pinata. Nothing wrong with no knowing and or even correcting someone. But making an excuse for your ignorance or trying to avoid appearing wrong makes them even more of a fool.
people do that to my little boston pup too!! omd annoying. I went up to let some little girls pet her and their dad was like "is that a pug"?? And she looks nothing like a pug. Perfect boston markings. I think it is the bulging eyes. But bostons deserve more respect by all means. So I answered: "No, it is a BOSTON TERROR" She is very rambuctious.
Don't be so damn anal. Yes, to anyone who knows better, one can tell them apart very easily. But to say they look nothing alike is ridiculous. A great dane and a Mexican hairless look nothing alike. A boston terrier and a pug look very similar. Although I, and it sounds like everyone else reading this post prefer a boston any day.
